Life is What You Make it

Stephen told me that “life is what you make it.”  I never knew why he felt he had to tell me this from time to time. Of course, everyone knows that life is what you make it. I only analyzed and realized what he meant by that phrase after he died. He meant, “Life is what YOU make it.” Now, it becomes clearer to me.  My life should not be what another person else considers to be of value. Life is what is important to me. I can make it as grandiose or as simple as I like. I’m not trying to impress anyone. And I can change my mind about my life along the way. I am happy to remember Stephen’s words as they help me feel that he is still with me.  And then I am sad because he is no longer here.
