I remember visiting a website some time ago named Awkward Family Photos. I was amazed that people paid photographers to take seemingly inappropriate or odd photos of their families. Some of these photos were printed on personalized holiday cards or sent in annual family newsletters. In hindsight, the photos are evidence of bad decision making by the adult family members who thought the theme of the portrait was a good idea.
I am interested in the following things when looking at a family photo:
Who are the people in the photo?
Where and when was the photo taken?
Does something or someone in the photo have special significance to the owner of the photo?
I have the following photo in my family collection:
I can identify the men and know when and where the photo was taken. It was common for a photographer to take a photo of people standing in front of a car or building but why were the men standing behind the shrubbery????
I’m certain that no one will be able to answer that question for me.
