I have been unfriended

From the Oxford Dictionary

unfriend

VERB

  • Remove (someone) from a list of friends or contacts on a social networking website

I noticed today that the hourly (or minute-by-minute) postings by one of my Facebook friends ended yesterday.  I got worried.  What happened to him?  I breathed a sigh of relief when I realized that he was all right but had just unfriended me.  We hadn’t fought. He had left one or two rude messages in a couple of postings on my Facebook page but I was indifferent to the drama he was trying to create.  My relationship and marriage to his father apparently had been too much for him to take but he took a long time to make the bold decision to unfriend me.  Others who are associated with him may unfriend me as well.  I can accept the fact that he unfriended me.  It just surprised me when it finally happened.

It is best for us to accept that our friends on social networking sites may not be true friends after all.
